10 Members Of Hotshot Fire Crew Injured In Crash Near Burney

An entire Forest Service Hotshot Wildland Fire Crew out of Redding has been injured in a crash just west of Burney. A little before 5PM Tuesday afternoon 66-year-old Linda Corr of McArthur was driving a Lexus eastbound on Highway 299 when she drifted over the center line and collided head-on with a heavy duty Forest Service personnel transport vehicle driven by 36-year-old Isaac Obst. The Lexus came to rest on its wheels on the highway shoulder. Corr was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Redding with complaints of pain to her chest. The Forest Service rig rolled over on the embankment and came to rest overturned. It was carrying ten fire crew members. Two of them, Patrick Larkin and Philip Taylor, suffered major injuries and were taken by air to Redding hospitals. The rest of them –Chris Graves, Michael Cagle, Andrew Edens, Jon Lindquist, Courtney Sismer, Daniel Robison and Stephani Kopfman– all sustained minor injuries and were taken to various area hospitals. The CHP is seeking witnesses to the crash at 225-0500.
