Redding’s Neighborhood Policing Unit has arrested a man fleeing from a noted homeless camp area. Tuesday afternoon, officers were investigating complaints in the Henderson Road-Parkview Avenue area when they noticed a woman approach a vehicle and make what appeared to be a drug deal. Officers tried to stop the driver, 37-year-old Galen Dejonge, but he fled the scene. As police followed him, his vehicle became disabled at Leila Avenue and Beverly Drive, near the intersection of Bechelli and Cypress. Dejonge was taken into custody and his vehicle was searched. Officers reportedly found a quarter ounce of Methamphetamine and other evidence of drug sales. Dejonge was arrested for felony evading law enforcement, possession of Methamphetamine for sales and transportation of Methamphetamine for sales.
