The Tehama County Coroner’s Office has identified the person found dead in a field Thursday morning. 57-year-old Eric Peterson of Gerber was driving a Jeep Cherokee and apparently had hit a tree. The California Highway Patrol was alerted to a vehicle in a field near East Chard Avenue and Samson near Gerber. The report said there was a tree on top of it and that it had been there for some time. While checking into the incident, officers found Peterson’s body.
