PG&E Cuts Power To Thousands, Will Host Public Meetings On Planned ShutOffs

A couple of events held by Pacific Gas and Electric Company are designed to inform customers about various issues of concern, including the plan for widespread power shut-offs during high fire danger this summer. PG&E shut off the power to selected regions over the weekend to guard against wildfires. Power was turned off to approximately 1,600 customers in Napa, Solano and Yolo Counties and about 43,000 customers in Butte, Yuba, Nevada, El Dorado and Placer Counties. The “Public Safety Power Shutoff Program” will be addressed, as well as accelerated safety inspections, vegetation management around power lines and a general hardening of the electric system. The first open house is Tuesday from 6PM to 8PM at the Red Lion on Hilltop Drive. Another meeting at the same time will be at the Chico Elks Lodge Wwednesday. Those who cannot make it to an event can log into a webinar, with information at pge.com/wildfiresafety.
