New State Budget Sends Money To Paradise For Camp Fire Recovery

The new 214.8 Billion Dollar California State budget has 12.8 Million Dollars in it for recovery from the Camp Fire. The final budget contains $2 Million to support Butte County fire stations, and $10 Million to aid in Camp Fire recovery, including funding to support the operations of the Paradise Irrigation District as they work to restore the town’s drinking water system. The budget also includes $800,000 to kick start Paradise’s construction of a sewer system for the town’s business district. This project is aimed at modernizing Paradise’s infrastructure to be more fire-resilient. State Senator Jim Nielsen praises the legislation for helping rebuild fire-ravaged areas, but says he doesn’t support the budget overall because of other issues, like funding healthcare for undocumented immigrants.
