CHP: Rider Killed After Motorcyclist Strikes Dog

A motorcyclist from Magalia died in Burney after colliding with a dog. 46-year-old Jon Langley was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson with 43-year-old Tina Ascheman as a passenger. At 10 o’clock Friday night they were heading through Burney eastbound on Highway 299. Just west of Enterprise Drive, a dog ran across the highway directly into the path of the motorcycle. When the front tire struck the dog, Langley lost control of the bike and both he and Sscheman were ejected and hit the asphalt. Langley suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Mayers Hospital. Ascheman was treated for lacerations to her legs. The CHP says both were wearing helmets and alcohol is not suspected.
