Trinity County Sheriff’s detectives are still investigating a shooting that occurred in a remote area of the county on Saturday, but they have determined that it was an isolated incident. A Florida man was driving on a dirt road in a sparsely populated area of the county when he was shot in the head by an unknown person. Despite his injury he then had to drive about 20 miles to the Mad River Area before he could get cell service and call for help at 3:30AM Saturday morning. The victim was then taken by helicopter to a Redding hospital. The sheriff’s office says he remains in stable condition and is expected to recover eventually, but his condition makes it difficult to communicate with him. No suspects have been identified, though 2 vehicles have been impounded as part of the investigation.
