A fire that started late Thursday night near Trinity Lake has been contained at 18 acres. The Captain Fire started near the Captain’s Point Boat-in Campground. The Forest Service reported the fire burning in steep terrain with heavy timber and snags. The cause is under investigation, but there’s been word that the fire may have been sparked by illegal fireworks.
A vegetation fire that broke out near Igo Friday morning has been contained at 30 acres. The Ranch Fire was reported in the area of Yolla Bolly Road. Ground crews and air tankers attacked the vegetation fire, which was declared contained on Saturday.
