Decision On South Redding Costco Likely Delayed Until 2020

The controversial plan for a Costco-anchored shopping center proposed for South Redding has been put off again. A public hearing to consider the River Crossing Marketplace final environmental impact report was scheduled for the Redding City Council meeting on August 6th. At the request of Costco Wholesale, the hearing was continued to August 20th. After receiving additional public input, Costco has now requested that city staff take additional time to address the concerns presented. Costco recognizes the process may take six months or more to address the additional remarks and also comply with legal requirements by re-circulating portions of the project’s draft EIR. When that process is completed, the project will have to be considered by the Planning Commission before returning to the council for consideration in early 2020.
