A Shasta County parolee has been arrested for a brutal attempted murder of a woman. Just before 3AM last Friday deputies were sent to a home on Happy Valley Road, where they found a woman suffering from multiple severe injuries. She had been badly beaten, repeatedly stabbed and her throat was slit, but she was still alive and conscious. She described her attacker and said he had dragged her from her home and tried to rape her. She was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover. Meanwhile detectives had been investigating and narrowed in on 43-year-old Chad Kaufman. He was positively identified by the victim and arrested on Monday.
