Some stranded hikers had to be rescued last week from the rugged mountainous area of Blue Lake in Siskiyou County southwest of Etna. A man called 911 last Monday afternoon to say that during a family camping trip his brother and sister were climbing steep cliffs when they found themselves stuck on a rocky outcropping. They feared that if they tried to climb down they might fall. A CHP helicopter inserted Siskiyou County Search and Rescue members onto the cliff side, and then hoisted all of them up and dropped them off at their campsite.
