A resident of a remote area in Southwestern Shasta County is accused of shooting his landlord in the face overnight. 39-year-old Nicholas Derossett was flown to Mercy Hospital in Redding, where he’s in critical condition. At 12:30AM sheriff’s deputies responded to Yolla Bolla Road in the Igo area. An investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Buck Carlile. The two men live on the same property and have had an ongoing dispute as Derossett has been trying to evict Carlile. Deputies say Carlile went to Derossett’s home to confront him about the eviction and while they were arguing Carlile pulled a gun and shot Derossett in the face. Carlile was booked into jail for assault with a gun. Anyone who can provide information about the case is asked to call 245-6540.
