Seven people have been indicted by a federal grand jury, accused of growing marijuana in the Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests. There are two separate cases and two separate indictments. The first involves a Mexican citizen and two men from Ukiah charged with growing more than 1,800 marijuana plants east of Haman Ridge. About 100 pounds of processed bud was also seized from the grow site. In addition to cultivation, the three are also charged with depredation of public lands and resources. The second case involves a man from Pioneer, a man from Guatemala and two from Mexico. They’re accused of growing more than a thousand plants in the Tomhead Mountain area. If convicted, each man faces a minimum of ten years and a maximum of life in federal prison.
