An inmate died Thursday morning while in custody inside the Shasta County Jail. The male inmate was discovered unresponsive at 8:21AM. An ambulance was called and life saving efforts were attempted, but the man was later pronounced dead by medical personnel. In following the critical incident protocol, the Redding Police Department is the lead investigating agency. The man’s identity is withheld until family is notified.
