Names Of 3 Redding Firefighters To Be Enshrined In Colorado

The memories of three members of the Redding Fire Department who died as a result of their service to the people of Redding will be permanently enshrined Saturday when their names are added to the International Association of Firefighters Memorial Wall of Honor in Colorado Springs. Fire Inspector Dean Herzberg and Captain Kevin Ward both died from cancer that resulted from exposure to hazardous smoke on the job. Inspector Jeremy Stoke was killed in last year’s fire tornado during the Carr Fire while he was trying to evacuate people from a West Redding neighborhood. The memorial wall of honor has names etched in granite of more than 8,000 IAFF members who have died from putting their lives on the line, dating back to 1918.
