Chase Suspect Surrenders After Running Out Of Gas

A man from Chico who led Corning Police on a lengthy pursuit was driving in style but was done in by his gas mileage. At 7:30PM Thursday night Corning Police went to Chicago Avenue to check on a report of a suspicious man loitering with a white Cadillac. When officers arrived the man in the Cadillac took off, apparently driving erratically. Officers gave chase and the driver reportedly led a 17 mile pursuit at speeds reaching more than 100 miles an hour. Just outside Hamilton City on Wyo Avenue near First Avenue, the Cadillac ran out of gas. The driver immediately surrendered. 28-year-old Edgar Jimenez is on felony probation and had outstanding warrants. He also has a suspended driver’s license. Officers reported finding a meth pipe and a loaded 22 caliber magazine and .380 ammunition, but no gun. Jimenez was booked into jail on several charges.
