Two Arrested During Traffic Stop In Redding

Two people were arrested Sunday night in Redding after a traffic stop reportedly uncovered drug paraphernalia, pepper spray, burglary tools, and ammunition, according to Redding Police. An officer pulled over a car at about 9:20PM that was occupied by 30 year-old Shawn Edward Applehans II and 28-year-old Lorin Ashley Leonard. Both are on probation and Leonard had a felony arrest warrant for her arrest. A search of the car was done and both were arrested. Applehans, who is a convicted felon, was arrested for being a felon in possession of pepper spray, ammunition, burglary tools, and a probation violation. Leonard was arrested for the outstanding felony warrant, drug paraphernalia and a probation violation. While at the Shasta County Jail, Leonard reportedly admitted to having heroin concealed on her person. Approximately 2.1 grams were found. Earlier this month, Applehans was arrested after leading officers on a chase, while throwing items out of the vehicle. The items thrown out on the road were recovered by assisting officers. At that time, Applehans was placed under arrest for multiple drug, theft and weapon crimes.
