K9 Helps Deputies Arrest Burglary Suspect

A man was arrested after reportedly resisting a Shasta County Sheriff’s K9 Monday afternoon in Round Mountain. Deputies with the Burney Division were called at 2:35PM by a homeowner after she arrived home with her children and found her home had been ransacked. She told deputies that a man who was later identified as 26-year-old Christopher Able Jones was lying in her bed in the master bedroom and she left the house to wait for deputies. Deputies made announcements for Jones to exit the home, but he apparently ignored them. With assistance from Blitz the K9, deputies were able to locate Jones and take him into custody. Jones was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained while being apprehend by the K9. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail for burglary and for resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
