Third Inmate Dies In Custody In 3 Weeks

A third Shasta County inmate has died in less than 3 weeks, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. At 1:30AM Wednesday morning, 42-year-old Frank Graham was transported from the Shasta County Jail to Shasta Regional Medical Center for treatment a gastro-intestinal tract complaint. Graham was treated throughout the morning and was medically cleared to return to custody at about 8:30AM. As Graham was being escorted out of the hospital to a transport vehicle he became unresponsive. He was brought back inside the hospital and life saving efforts were initiated. At 9:17AM Graham was pronounced dead. He had been serving a 16 month sentence at the jail for harming a peace officer K9, resisting arrest, and for failure to appear on a weapons charge. His family has been notified and a post mortem exam is scheduled for next week to determine a cause of death.
