CCW Holder Confronts Domestic Violence Suspect In South Redding

A Redding man has been arrested on several charges that started with an altercation at a house in the 2000 block of Westwood Avenue in South Redding. According to Redding Police, just before 6PM Thursday, 44-year-old Carl Dudley Hulsey was reportedly beating his wife. Calls came in to SHASCOM that 2 women were fighting with him, one of them reportedly the sister of the victim. Officers began checking the area and were soon advised that Hulsey and his sister-in-law may have been seen at Win River Mini-Mart. While officers were responding to that location, calls began coming in regarding a man pointing a handgun at another man near the gas pumps. Hulsey had been confronted by a concealed carry citizen. Hulsey fled the area southbound through nearby fields. Redding Police, assisted by K9 Otto were able to locate Hulsey and take him into custody. Hulsey’s sister-in-law told police that she’d been kidnapped and that assaulted her and tried to sexually assault her. His wife suffered injuries to her leg and face and was transported to Shasta Regional Medical Center for treatment. One Safe Place is providing services. Hulsey was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, kidnapping, sexual battery, and resisting arrest.
