The Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force, SINTF, has awarded funds to organizations serving local youth. Funds are used for drug abuse prevention programs and to discourage youth gang involvement. A percentage of funds seized during traffic stops, search warrants and other incidents involving controlled substances are placed in a special account. More than a dozen organizations received funds, including Girls Inc., Hill Country Health and Wellness, Intermountain Teen Center, the Youth Violence Prevention Council, Redding Elks Lodge, Shasta Family YMCA, Shasta County Chemical People and others. The total amount granted for all organizations was $ 55,000.
