I-5 Will Be Closed Overnights For Work On RASL Projects

Late night drivers on Interstate 5 south of Redding may encounter delays over 3 nights next week. Cal-Trans has announced a major construction operation that requires overnight, full highway closures on Northbound I-5 between Anderson and Redding from October 8 through October 10th. Construction crews will be installing pre-cast concrete girders for the replacement of the South Anderson Railroad overhead, one of the project’s main components. The girders are up to 146 feet long and weigh up to 164,000 pounds. This crucial structural work is for the Redding to Anderson Six Lane Expansion Project. The closures are necessary for the safety of highway workers and the public due to the presence of large cranes and other heavy equipment. All drivers are strongly advised to follow the speed limits, slow down, focus on driving, and respect the cone zones. Drivers may experience 15 minute delays between Midnight and 5AM. Traffic on Southbound I-5 will not be affected.
