3 Teens Arrested After Assaulting Staff Member

A second assault on a group home staff member has been reported. Wednesday afternoon, Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Clairvaux Lane, northeast of Redding for a report of an active assault against staff by juvenile residents at a group home operated by Victor Treatment Centers. The victim was barricaded in an office and the boys were trying to break through the door. When they arrived, deputies took all three into custody. It was learned that the three suspects had talked about their plans to harm the victim earlier in the day. According to deputies, one 15-year-old suspect assaulted the victim with a wooden stick that had a dull point on one end. A 16 year-old reportedly struck the victim with a bucket. A 13-year-old, assisted by providing items used in the assault. The victim had scratches and scrapes to the hands and declined medical treatment on scene. All three suspects were arrested and taken to the Shasta County Juvenile Hall where they were booked for assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and conspiracy.
