Man Fights With Officers Before Being Arrested For 21st Time

A man on Post Release Supervision who’s been arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail 20 times had a fight with Redding Police Friday. Shortly after Noon, an officer on Cedars Road saw a pickup blocking the southbound lane so he stopped to assist. He contacted three people, including 39-year-old Barry Fourzon, who reportedly lied about his identity. Another officer arrived and they tried to detain Fourzon but when they tried to get him into handcuffs, he apparently began resisting and fighting and pulled a loaded semi-auto handgun from his waistband and tossed it into the roadway. During the fight, officers say they were kicked, punched and bit by Fourzon until they finally subdued him about four minutes later. While fighting the officers, he allegedly kept encouraging the others to assist him and to “get the gun”. Nobody helped him. Fourzon was booked into jail several new felony charges, and he has a lengthy criminal history that includes evading police, robbery, carjacking, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, brandishing, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, criminal threats, possession of drugs, violently resisting arrest and more.
