As of 10:41AM Wednesday morning, Redding has a new police chief. Mayor Julie Winter swore in Bill Schueller as the new chief at a ceremony at the city council chambers. Schueller is taking over from retired chief Roger Moore, who announced his retirement in April. Addressing the packed gathering, Schueller thanked Moore and others in the department for helping him reach the new position. Moore was present, as were former chiefs Leonard Moty and Bob Blankenship. Chief Schueller has worked for RPD for 25 years in various capacities, including as interim director at SHASCOM. He was chosen following a nationwide search.
