Power Back On

All Shasta County schools are reopened this morning, and all P-G-&-E customers have been restored. 738,000 customers in 34 counties had their electricity cut as part of P-G-&-E’s massive “Public Safety Power Shutoff” that started at around 12:30 Wednesday morning. During the red flag fire danger period, wind gusts were recorded at more than 70 miles an hour. Crews patrolling at the end of the shutdown found at least 50 instances of weather-related damage, such as trees into power lines, that could have had the potential to start fires.
