Two women have been murdered during a robbery in a remote area of Siskiyou County. At 2:05 AM Monday morning, a 9-1-1 call was made from the Dorris area reporting a robbery that resulted in two people being shot. It’s an area known as “Big Stump” in the Pleasant Valley highlands off Dorris-Brownell road about 3 miles northwest of Dorris. Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel arrived on Hilltop Road near Buckhorn Flat Road to find a dead woman inside a structure, and another woman who was still alive but soon succumbed to her gunshot wounds. Detectives and forensics have been working the scene and a couple of associates of the slain women have been interviewed, but no suspects have been identified. Residents of the area are asked to be extra alert and to report anything suspicious to the Sheriff’s Office at 841-2900.
