Deputies: Two Women Murdered In Remote Siskiyou County

Siskiyou County authorities have released the names of the two women who were murdered during am apparent robbery near Dorris. At 2:05AM Monday a 9-1-1 caller reported a robbery resulting in two people being shot. It was in an area known as “Big Stump”, an isolated mountainous area in the Pleasant Valley Highlands about 3 miles northwest of Dorris. Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel arrived on Hilltop Road near Buckhorn Flat road to find a dead woman inside the home. Another woman was still alive and was transported to a fire station awaiting a medical helicopter but she succumbed to her gunshot wounds before it arrived. The two slain women have been identified as 81-year-old Mor Hang and 49-year-old Rosey Vang. Both had recently lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Detectives and forensics technicians have been working the scene and have interviewed some relatives and associates, but no suspects have been identified. Marijuana was being grown and processed on the property, but it’s not known if that was the target of the robbery. Residents of the area are still being asked to report anything suspicious to the sheriff’s office at 841-2900.
