A elderly Weaverville man died in a head-on collision Tuesday night on Highway 299 at Douglas City. 84-year-old Eldon Ray Wolfe was driving a Subaru Legacy with 73-year-old Charlene Wolfe and 57-year-old Foster Burns as passengers. At 8:20PM they were eastbound on the highway a little east of Steiner Flat Road when a westbound GMC Sierra pickup came across the double yellow lines and slammed head on into the Subaru. Eldon was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passengers were hospitalized with moderate injuries. The pickup driver, 50-year-old Andrew John Carey and his passenger Limberly Jones had minor injuries. The CHP says alcohol was not a factor.
