Teen Shot By Deputies Arrested For Attempted Murder

A man who was shot by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputies has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer and other charges. On November 5th a man called 9-1-1 from Douglas Lane northwest of Mount Shasta City. He said his son, 19-year-old Jesse Macias, was acting strangely and may have been experiencing a mental health episode. He also said he was armed with two large knives. Sheriff Jon Lopey says deputies tried to de-escalate the situation, but Macias assaulted one or more of them. Macias was shot by a deputy and a sergeant and was transported to Mercy Mount Shasta. He’s since been treated and released. On Tuesday deputies returned to Macias’s home along with officers from Yreka, Mount Shasta, Etna and the D.A.’s Office. He was arrested without incident. A multi-agency investigation is underway concerning the officer involved shooting.
