Felon Busted With Illegal Guns & Hard Drugs

A couple of pounds of hard drugs was seized during a bust in South Redding Wednesday morning. SINTF Agents, assisted by Redding Police and CHP investigators, served a search warrant at the home of 37-year-old Shawn Evan Copelin on Kenyon Drive. Copelin had a felony warrant for his arrest for failing to appear after previous arrests. During the search, agents reported finding a short barreled assault rifle and 3 additional assault weapons, all banned under state law, as well as a stolen hand gun. They also say they found a pound and a half of Methamphetamine and about three quarters of a pound of Heroin, along with $6,600 cash. Copelin is a previously convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history. He was booked into Shasta County Jail on numerous charges including possession of Heroin and Methamphetamine for sale, felon in possession of firearms, and possession of assault weapons. Copelin has had 4 previous cases filed with the district attorney’s office since may involving drug sales and weapons charges. His bail was set at $300,000.
