Man Sentenced To 9 Years For Assaulting Elderly Man

A man convicted of assaulting a 73-year-old man has been sentenced to prison and the D.A. has commended two good Samaritans. On November 15th of last year, Jason Wiebusch assaulted Major Singh, who was working at the 7-11 on Eureka Way. Singh suffered a fractured eye socket as a result. Two strangers stepped in front of the victim and prevented Wiebusch from hitting him again. Both men then helped get Wiebusch out of the store. Wiebusch was arrested by Redding Police. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 9 years in state prison. Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett praised Butch Ttaylor Jr. and Richard Paradise as examples of good people stepping in to help their neighbors. The actions of both men likely prevented even more severe injuries to Singh.
