Driver Killed In Fiery Crash On Highway 99

A driver died in a crash and fire over the weekend in the Dairyville area of Tehama County, according to the CHP. At around one O’clock Sunday morning a 2005 Honda Accord was northbound on Highway 99 approaching Blackberry Avenue when the car drifted off the right side of the road and rolled over into a large drainage ditch, landing on its roof. The engine caught fire and the driver was trapped inside unable to escape. Emergency personnel and other drivers tried to put the fire out with fire extinguishers but the flames became too intense and they had to back off. The unidentified driver died at the scene.
