Fire Season Ends For Shasta Trinity Unit Of Cal-Fire

Cal-Fire has announced that the area is now out of peak fire season. Recent rains and cooler temperatures have lowered the threat of wildfires allowing Cal-Fire’s Shasta-Trinity Unit to make the transition in Shasta and Eastern Trinity Counties. Cal-Fire/Shasta County Fire Department Chief Bret Gouvea is urging residents to use this time of year to work on providing and maintaining defensible space on their property. Residents are urged to continue to take precautions outdoors. A leading cause of wildfires this time of year is from escaped landscape debris burning. Before you burn, ensure it’s a permissive burn day by contacting the local air quality district and then make sure you have any and all required burn permits. Cal-Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit is no longer requiring burn permits for dooryard burning.
