A retired CHP Officer from Redding has been indicted on child porn charges by a federal grand jury. According to court documents, between February 25th and October 10th, 50-year-old Timothy Allen Horwath knowingly received visual depictions of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Horwath was arrested Monday at his residence and made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Allison Claire. After government counsel moved for detention, Horwath was remanded into custody, pending a detention hearing set for December 11th. If convicted, Horwath faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and restitution to the victims.
