Judge Blocks California Law On Dialysis Clinics

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) – A judge has blocked enforcement of a California law aimed at preventing increased billing costs at dialysis clinics. The judge in Orange County granted a preliminary injunction Monday that stops enforcement of the bill during trial of a lawsuit. Judge David O. Carter says otherwise, thousands of Californians with kidney disease might not be able to afford life-giving dialysis treatments. The nonprofit American Kidney Fund, which runs a financial aid program for such patients, had said it might have to stop the program because the state law conflicts with federal laws the program must follow.
