Redding Police say a motorcyclist tried to get away from them early Tuesday morning. Just after 1AM officers tried to pull over a Yahama rider for speeding on southbound Highway 273 at Girvan Road, but he took off at high speed southbound. The lengthy pursuit eventually wound around to East Redding and, with the assistance of a CHP helicopter, the rider was tracked to a house on Sunwood Drive off Victor Avenue. The helicopter crew apparently saw the rider abandon the bike and run into the house. Police surrounded the place and called for the man to come outside. After a few minutes, 37-year-old Paul Strong came outside and surrendered. Police say he told them he fled because he knew his license was suspended and his motorcycle was unregistered. He was booked for felony evading with wanton disregard for safety.
