A young teenager from out of the state was responsible for the evacuation of the Anderson Walmart. On November 14th, the store and nearby businesses were cleared out. The store was cleared by Anderson Police Officers and the threat was determined to be a hoax. As a direct result, Walmart estimated to have suffered approximately $19,000 worth of loss in sales and employee costs. Anderson Police detectives investigated and traced the call to a 14-year-old from Fayetteville, North Carolina. The suspect confessed to making the call. The teenager had placed blocked phone calls to over 20 Walmarts throughout the country, but the Anderson location was the only one that got a bomb threat. The Anderson Police Department will be filing felony charges against the juvenile with the Shasta County D.A.’s Office.
