Deputies in Tehama County are not happy with their current pay and what the county is proposing. The county wants to cut salaries by 3 percent. When the Deputy Sheriffs Association complained, they say the county came up with a new proposal, cutting salaries by 4 percent. The association surveyed other nearby counties, Siskiyou, Shasta, Butte, Yuba, Lake and Glenn. They report that current pay in Tehama County is well below that of comparable jurisdictions, more than 20 percent lower for some positions. The Deputy Sheriff’s Association is asking for people to contact the supervisors to support their cause.
