Man Sentenced To Over 11 Years For High Speed Chase

A man has gotten a lengthy sentence for leading Red Bluff Police on a wild chase that ended in a crash with unwilling passengers along for the ride. On Halloween night officers tried to stop a car driven by 31-year-old Christopher Lee Baker, but he sped off down Aloha Street, a narrow winding residential lane, at up to 60 miles an hour while forcing other cars off the road. He made it about a mile and a half before crashing into a parked car near the intersection of Aloha Street and Jackson Street. He then fled on foot, leaving his three severely injured passengers in the car, including two juveniles. All three said they had pleaded with Baker to stop and let them out but he refused. Baker was later found hiding at his girlfriend’s house. The incident resulted in convictions on seven felonies, including fleeing police causing serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident, 3 counts of kidnapping, and 2 counts of child abuse. His sentence is 11 years 4 months in state prison.
