DA: Woman Will Be Charged With Felony After Viral Video

An arrest has been made in an animal abuse case from last week. Thursday morning, investigators from the Shasta County District Attorney Bureau of Investigations arrested Xaviera Kayli Ferguson for felony animal abuse in connection with actions towards an 8-month-old Mastiff puppy named “Caballo”. On Wednesday, January 9th, surveillance video showed a woman beating, biting and kicking the leashed dog. The video went viral, causing widespread outrage. The D.A.’s Office has filed a single felony count against Ferguson. If convicted, she’s facing a sentence up to 3 years in county jail. The dog is in the care of Haven Humane Society.
