RPD: Man With Lighter Threatens Homeowner With A Gun

An alleged prowler was arrested in Redding after pretending he had a gun, and a homeowner called his bluff. Around 8:30AM Saturday morning a family on Elizabeth Way noticed a man creeping around their vehicles, so they yelled at him to go away. The suspect yelled back and reached toward his waistband, then pulled out what looked like a gun as he walked toward the house. The resident pointed his own gun at the man, who then took off running. When Redding Police arrived they put Otto the K9 on the trail as well as human officers and 27-year-old Jordan Ericsson, who was apparently hiding in a yard, quickly surrendered. Police say he had a lighter with a pistol-like grip, but no actual gun. Ericsson reportedly admitted that he had been checking car doors and took a purse from a car at a different home. He was booked for burglary and possession of burglary tools and heroin.
