Man Who Struck Woman With A Hammer Found Guilty

A man who assaulted a Good Samaritan with a hammer has been convicted by a Shasta County jury. 50-year-old Jason Driskell was arrested near the Redding Library on September 11th. He had been swinging a roofing hammer at another person when a woman intervened, hoping to prevent anyone from getting hurt. Driskell then started swinging the hammer at the woman, who was able to block most of the swings but eventually was struck in the face. She suffered bruising to her face and arm, but declined medical attention. Driskell was detained by other bystanders until Redding Police arrived and took him into custody. On Tuesday Driskell was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon.
