13 Counties Receive State Grants From Cal-Fire

Cal-Fire has announced 67 Million Dollars in funding statewide for projects intended to restore and maintain healthy forests, conserve working forests, and enhance carbon storage in the state’s forests. This year’s funded projects are distributed among 13 counties covering the length of California, from Siskiyou to San Diego. Shasta College will receive about 1.8 Million Dollars to expand its “heavy equipment logging operations certificate workforce training program”, while broadening student education and experience in reforestation. In Trinity County, 3.8 Million Dollars will fund the second phase of a 2017 forest health project for 5 specific fuel reduction projects, including thinning, prescribed burns, reforestation and fuel breaks. Other North State counties receiving funding include Siskiyou, Glenn, Colusa, Yuba and Humboldt. The money comes from California’s cap and trade funds.
