Woman Allegedly Crashes Pickup Into Sign In Weaverville

A woman from Butte County has not been charged for a hit and run that happened Wednesday morning in Weaverville, according to the CHP. 31-year-old Esi Degraft Johnson of Berry Creek was driving a 2020 Chevy Silverado westbound through Weaverville a little before 2AM at a speed the CHP says was unsafe. She was on Nugget Lane approaching Glen Road and rambled off the pavement and through some wood landscape material at the edge of the Valero Gas Station on Main Street. The big pickup truck then plowed into the Valero sign before leaving the scene and heading east out of town. Johnson and the pickup truck were found at 7:15AM, about 5 hours later, at the Indian Creek Lodge in Douglas City. She had suffered a bump on her forehead.
