RPD: Man Sitting On Railroad Tracks Killed By Train

A man was killed by a train in North Redding Sunday morning. At 8:26AM a southbound train was going around 40 miles an hour when it rounded a corner north of the Lake Boulevard bridge. The locomotive crew saw a man sitting on the tracks and started blowing the horn, but the man made no attempt to get out of the way. The train could not stop in time before it struck the man. The Shasta County Coroners Office is trying to determine an identity.
