Woman Arrested For Felony DUI After Overnight Fatal Crash On I-5

The CHP says a 22-year-old Anderson woman was driving under the influence when she caused a fatal crash overnight in North Redding. Southbound Interstate Five was closed for almost four hours north of Lake Boulevard following the crash at 1:12AM. Jecenia Hedrick was driving a 2013 Honda Civic that struck the rear of a 2006 BMW, which caused the BMW to flip, coming to rest on its roof in the slow lane as the Honda stopped in the center divide. Moments later a tractor-trailer driven by a Medford man struck the BMW, killing the unidentified 20-year-old male driver. Hedrick was arrested for felony DUI and manslaughter. She suffered major injuries, as did her passenger, 25-year-old James Parscal of Anderson. The CHP is still investigating. The freeway reopened at about 5:10AM Friday morning.
