Man Resists Arrest After Breaking Into South Redding Business

Redding Police say a man covered in blood and resistant to some of their weapons confronted them in South Redding early Friday morning. At around 1AM officers were sent to the Clear Creek Suites on Westside Road after a witness saw a man break a window and crawl inside, then saw the bloody man trying to break another window inside the business. When officers got there, 38-year-old Christopher Reed reportedly crawled out the window he had entered and faced them. Officers say he was shirtless, covered in blood, appeared to be on drugs and refused to speak to them. They shot him with a Taser, which did nothing, then they shot him with a beanbag round, which didn’t do much. When he started walking toward the Clear Creek Market, Hank the K9 was sent after him and he was taken into custody. He had to be hospitalized for the many cuts he had gotten from the broken glass. Reed is on probation and has been arrested 18 times since march of last year. His last arrest was February 10th, for allegedly being on drugs and trying to break out a window at the Child Family Services Building on California Street. He was released that same day.
