Oregon Man Arrested After Crashing Into CHP Vehicle

A driver being pursued late Friday night ran head-on into a CHP patrol car, injuring the officer. At 11:35PM, the CHP was asked to assist as sheriff’s deputies were trying to locate a Ford Mustang that was fleeing with no headlights. They had lost sight of it on Highway 44 near Victor Avenue. The car was soon spotted by a CHP helicopter crew going north on Interstate 5 near Highway 299. Ground units caught up to the car on boulder drive, and the Mustang plowed head-on into the CHP Interceptor at Campers Court. 31-year-old Garrett Paden of Salem, Oregon was booked for felony reckless evading, DUI causing injury and assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer. The CHP sustained minor injuries.
