Husband & Wife Injured After Their Motorcycle Strikes Deer

Two people from Florida were injured in a motorcycle crash in the Shingletown area Thursday night. 49-year-old Miguel Colon and his wife, 55-year-old Maria Colon, were riding their Suzuki Berman eastbound on Highway 44 near Brush Creek Lane when they struck a deer in the roadway. Both Miguel and Maria were ejected. Miguel suffered multiple scrapes and bruises, as well as possible internal injuries. Maria’s injuries were major, including a lot of road rash and a major laceration to her knee. He was taken by ground ambulance and she was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Redding. The CHP says both were wearing helmets and alcohol is not suspected.
